EntreCard and Driving Traffic

Hi all…

EntreCard

I’ve been trying out EntreCard for the last few days on my other site — Lair of the Green Knight — and I have to admit that my traffic has increased. And I’ve had a few additional comments from some of those who have stopped by. The comments were via the EntreCard site, but it’s still something…

Izea Ranks - chart for Lair of the Green Knight over last 7 days

You can see the rise in my RealRank over the last 7 days because my visitors and page views have risen as a result of spending some time with EntreCard. We’ll see if the trend continues, but if nothing else it’s expanding my community of bloggers. I’ve talked to a number of folks via e-mail for blogs that I probably wouldn’t have found except through EntreCard.

So we’ll take the good with the bad for now. It certainly can’t hurt.

How have other folks done with the EntreCard system? Has it helped or hurt? Let me know!

New experience – Bay Area Kicks Requesting a Link to My Site

Hi all…

This week I had an out of the blue e-mail from Murris, who runs the Bay Area Kicks blog (http://www.bayareakicks.com) wondering if he could add a link to Fitzy Business from his blog and if I would mind linking back to his. After taking a look at his blog, which seems simple, well-designed, and on target for his market, I agreed. Though he hasn’t placed a link to my site on his blog links page yet, I thought I’d write up a quick review of his site and add a link anyway to be sociable.

Murris’ blog has a simple two-column design on the main page. He uses the main column for his blog articles about various sneakers. At the top of the site you can access his “About” page, and his “Links” page. His About page describes how he came to write the blog after running a successful online shoe store for several years. His links page, where he wants to put a link to Fitzy Business, has quite a list of links to other sites, from clothing and sports resources to simply “nice blogs” on a variety of topics.

Bay Area Kicks

If his numbers are right on his about page, he gets about 10,000 hits a day and is aiming for 30,000+ hits a day. I’d say he’s probably on track. According to Alexa, today he has a rank of 302,921, which is pretty good! (In comparison, this site, even with the lack of new posts over the holidays, has a traffic rank of 502,819.)

The articles on the blog are on topic, providing pictures and descriptions of individual sneakers, as well as his opinions on the shoe and where they can be purchased. Evidently Michael Jordan is releasing a new Air Jordan shoe (the Air Jordan XX3) later in the month, which I wasn’t aware of, and that post includes links to the shoe’s site as well as video of Jordan talking about the shoe.

So keep up the good work Murris and I wish you luck with your traffic goals!

Happy Holidays!

Hi all!

Hope you’ve all enjoyed your end of year celebrations, whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah,  Kwanzaa, or some other festive occasion. I wish you all a happy holidays and a merry and safe New Years’!

I have to do some serious thinking about this blog over the next few days while I’m on vacation to see if I’m going to continue with it or not. Towards the end of the year I got the strong feeling of being spread too thin, so I may have to pare back on the blogs I write at a bit. I know others of you (mostly part time bloggers I bet) have fought this also. I’m curious as to how you resolved it. Did you back away completely, cut back to only a few posts a week? One post a week?

Let me know how you handle this great balancing act. I’m curious!

In the meantime, enjoy the holidays and may we all have a great and profitable 2008!

Virtually Foolproof Method of Choosing Slam Dunk Markets

Hi there…

Discover an expert that has entered and profited from 17 radically different markets successfully in the past 2 years.

Yes, that’s right. I said 17 different markets. Not just 17 different products….17 different
audiences. This means his lists do not crossover in these markets.

He quietly enters a market…peeks inside the heads of customers and competitors…and builds an irresistible marketing machine.

And he does it over and over again in different markets.

He did a 65 minute interview with Terry Dean where he shared his system of finding profitable markets, examining from the inside out, and then making sure he was going to be successful before he ever entered the market.

They even get down to the nitty gritty where they discuss some ways to estimate just how profitable a market will be…and compare the difference between niche markets and general interest markets.

How to pick the right one for you personally…

There’s been a debate going online about niche markets versus large general interest markets.

Here’s a little secret. Of his 17 markets, he has some of both which are quite profitable.

There are reasons to enter each one…

Find out more here: Click HERE!

The price is only $7. I know this is ridiculously low…and you may be wondering just how valuable it is when I’m sharing it for this price.

It’s simple really. If I can help you find a profitable market for your business…you’re going
to have more money to buy my other products and services.

Once you see just how much you can learn from this simple low cost product, you’ll be first in line for all my other offers. I’m building a list of buyers…instead of just a list of subscribers.

Why should you jump on it now? There are two reasons. The first is there is a 100% commission affiliate program on it for the moment (not promising if I will leave it this high). Only buyers can participate in the program.

You can promote the product to your list for as long as I have it available from my site and you keep all the money.

The 2nd reason why you should take advantage of this now is because of how much it will save you by helping you choose the right market. If you’ve ever chosen a wrong market (sometimes referred to as a niche), you know just how costly of a mistake that is.

Save yourself the time…the frustration…and the expense by knowing exactly what to look for…and how to compare different markets.

The price is only $7.

Sincerely,
Terry Dean

AddThis… Great way to get Social Bookmarking to your site or blog!

Hey all…

There’s this cool free service that I found courtesy of Nick Stamoulis’ blog – Blog Marketing Journal. AddThis.com provides a way to simplify the bookmarking/sharing methods for your readers/viewers. I’ve looked at a number of different options and the AddThis widget is the simplest/easiest to use one of all of them to this point.

They provide several options for how to get it into your site or blog, including a WordPress plugin, which I’ve added to this blog.

You can add their widget to your blog or RSS feed, select which style of widget you’d like, and then select one of several options:

on a Website

  • on a Blog
  • on a MySpace page
  • on an Ezine or Newsletter

Cool enough you can also add it via:

  • A Feedburner Feedflare
  • WordPress Plugin (2 versions)
  • And Widgetbox

But wait, there’s more! You also get free stats showing what visitors are bookmarking, which can be useful for monitoring traffic and so on.

So give them a look — at Addthis.com.

Until next time…

So what do you want to know more about?

Hi all…

First of all, I have to thank Caroline Middlebrook and MarysMom for stopping by and leaving nice comments. Thank you both!

I’ve covered a number of items on this blog so far… Most have surrounded my passion for roleplaying or my experiences with publishing or trying to monetize this blog. Though I’m not doing very well at the last two, it’s not going to stop me from trying. 🙂

Question mark

But I’m interested if anyone who’s reading has suggestions for what they’d like to know more about based on some of my previous articles:

I’m not out of ideas, but I’d like to know what my few readers would like to know more about before I go off on too many more wild tangents!

Please leave me a comment and let me know!

Thanks!

Comments… Argh!

Hi all…

Thanks to a nice person at http://www.sweetlifewithmary.com/, it became clear today why I may not be getting ANY comments. I had WordPress set to require folks to register and log in to leave comments. Doh!

Oops!

That little switch has been flipped. To verify that it is indeed working as it should, would somebody mind leaving me a comment?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the trouble.

Watching traffic come and go…

Hi all…

It’s funny… I post an article about something I think is helpful. Like taking my experience at the Blue Man Group concert and attempting to show how to apply it to business or product development. I’ve posted about adapting roleplaying game techniques to business to help out your product development cycle.

And what gets the best results? An article I wrote about rssHugger. Or an article I wrote about an article on Caroline Middlebrook’s site.

Go figure.

This blog thing is interesting. I think I’ll keep going, but at the rate I’m going I’m not sure who’s coming with me. 🙂

If anyone is reading this message, can you please leave me a comment? I’d appreciate knowing I’m not alone in the ether. There’s a lot of traffic out there and I think I’m being run over. <sigh>

I’d also appreciate any comments on how to generate more readers or traffic. How do other successful blogs do it? I’d like to know. Nothing I’ve tried so far has helped beyond StumbleUpon and Blogsvertise lately.

Anyway… Hope everyone is having a good week!

Pays to be nice to folks!

Hi all!

The other day I posted a link to Caroline Middlebrook’s site where she listed a number of eBooks to help with SEO, internet marketing, and so on. And she actually stopped by to visit! I thought that was quite nice of her!

So I guess it’s true what folks say — it pays to be nice and network with other bloggers!

Have a great day… I’m gone tomorrow, but will have a cool post on Monday about my Blue Man concert experience on Monday!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

List of Free Internet Marketing Books from Caroline

Hi all!

I don’t know if you know who Caroline Middlebrook is, but she’s been on this road of monetizing a blog for longer than many of us just starting out and seems to have her act together. Hers is one of those blogs I check out regularly!

Anyway… She posted a great article on Tuesday this week providing a list of 20 free e-Books covering internet marketing and monetizing blogs in preparation for putting out her own e-Book. This is a great list that includes some of the big names in the blogosphere, including Yaro Starak (another blog I check out regularly) and Jack Humphrey (yet another great blog).

You can check out her list here. I will certainly be working my way through the list.

Caroline also noted that she’s actually starting to see some income from her efforts now, which is great. I wish her the best of luck. Maybe some of it will rub off on the rest of us. 🙂

Happy reading this holiday weekend!
